Photographs by Martin Avery

My forms are made with Parian clay which when fired produce a fine-textured, white marble appearance.  The name Parian comes from the Greek Island of Paros where a fine quality of marble was mined for countless centuries.

My designs are based upon Diatoms (a type of unicellular plant that contains silica), and Protozoa (single-celled microscopic animals).

I use a combination of methods to create my forms before firing to stoneware in an electric kiln.
